DESCRIPTION:Join us at Woodside Orchard for some winter fruit tree pruning and site maintenance. \nTerrain: Mostly flat \nMeeting Point: Coalbrookdale Community Centre\, 2 Wellington Road\, Coalbrookdale\, Telford TF8 7DX \nIf you are not registered as a volunteer with the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust\, but would like to get involved\, please send an email to vco@severngorge.org.uk or call 01952 433880 before booking! \nWhat you need to know \n\nAll activities are subject to change at short notice due to inclement weather or other circumstances.\nOur minibus can take you to the site\, picking up at 9.45am from Coalbrookdale Community Centre on Darby Road. Or you can meet on site(Volunteers are informed each week if we will be using the minibus)\nIf you will be travelling in the minibus\, please inform us in advance to ensure there are enough seats.\nBring sturdy footwear (preferably steel toe-capped boots for practical activities)\, outdoor clothing\, waterproofs\, refreshments and packed lunch.\nWe provide tea/coffee and biscuits in the morning break.\nWe will provide tools\, training\, gloves\, hard hats\, goggles\, hand sanitizer.\nPlease use only the trust’s tools for insurance purposes.\n16/17-year-olds will be asked to provide parental permission before taking part.\nPlease check your Tetanus injections are up-to-date.

SUMMARY:Willow Bird Feeder Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will introduce different willow weaving techniques to create birdfeeders suitable for fatballs or seed.\n\n\n\nThis workshop will introduce different willow weaving techniques to create birdfeeders suitable for fatballs or seed. During the day you will make at least two different styles of birdfeeder one of which could also be used in the kitchen to store garlic or small utensils. \nWorkshop Tutor – Cathy Preston \nCathy grows and weaves willow at her home near Oswestry and has a strong connection with the natural world. Encouraging people to unleash their creative talents and to take inspiration from the natural environment is at the core of Cathy’s workshops. \nSevern Gorge Countryside Trust \nThis workshop is being hosted by the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust\, a local charity. \nThe Trust’s aim is to promote\, protect and conserve the living landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site\, which has a diverse range of habitats\, including wildflower meadows\, woodlands and heathlands. But that’s not all! We maintain over 20 kilometres of footpaths\, conserve and protect 60 historic structures\, run exciting Outdoor Learning and Volunteering Programmes to encourage local people and visitors to engage with the natural environment in a variety of ways. \nAll proceeds from this workshop will support the work of the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust. \nOutdoor Learning Programme 2025/26 \nOur Outdoor Learning Programme is packed with events that aim to engage you with the natural world\, teach new or enhance existing skills and boost your mental health and wellbeing. Time spent outdoors is a wonderful thing that we want to encourage everyone to experience\, appreciate and reap the benefits from. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or a complete beginner\, there’s something for everyone\, from nature journaling to foraging walks\, eco-friendly workshops\, and creative sessions in the great outdoors. Each event offers a chance to explore the stunning landscape managed by the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust. Guided by local experts\, artists\, and enthusiastic tutors you can learn hands-on skills or attend events designed to boost your wellbeing.
